Our laboratory is one of the few laboratories in the world conducting research in synthetic biology, with the aim of constructing artificial genetic circuits that control gene expression and function using multiple biomolecules, and constructing synthetic metabolic pathways for producing useful substances such as bioalcohol.

We design genetic sequences as if writing a computer program—so that they behave as intended or produce desired substances under specific conditions. Our research combines genetic engineering, microbial fermentation techniques, and computational analysis to achieve this goal.
